Commercial units use heavier components, stainless construction, and are rated by a duty cycle — how many times per day they are engineered to run. Light, medium, and heavy duty

Manufacturers class commercial microwaves into three tiers. Higher wattage heats faster; higher duty means more daily uses and a longer service life under load.
